An impeccable measurement of time was the vital element at the time of the initial development of the U.S. railways, which allowed to transport large quantities of materials but which also led to the realization, for many, of the American dream. Hamilton offered absolute precision through its pocket watches that responded to the need for precision of the transport system.
In honor of our past as an official supplier of time measurement services for railways, the new Railroad pocket watch combines U.S. mass production techniques and cutting-edge micro engineers to offer a timepiece to revive the authenticity of our first pocket watches. The choice of making 917 specimens is a clear reference to what was the first address of the Hamilton factory on Columbia Avenue in Lancaster in Pennsylvania.
The 50 mm steel case and the white enameled dial take back the spirit of the first pocket watches, to which red color is added for the multiple minutes of 5, Arabic numbers in oversize format, black lacquered spheres and a small seconds counter at 6 o’clock.
The engraving on the closed backbone celebrates the anniversary of the brand with the words “130th Anniversary Railway Special” to pay tribute to the thirteen decades of Hamilton, founded in 1892. The manual winding movement feeds this timepiece, guaranteeing a 50-hour power reserve and the presence of the ETA 6497 caliber offers extraordinary reliability. The dial is protected by the sapphire glass with anti-reflective treatment and the water resistance is 5 bar. To complete the vintage style of this model, a removable chain and travel case in leather.
